Herpes Supplements

There are certain herbs and nutrients which have been found to be helpful for herpes and cold sores.

What we are finding is that many people are turning to these natural options because of their safety, effectiveness, economic value and because ultimately most people would prefer not to be dependent on suppressive medication.

More and more studies are being conducted every day which is giving us consistent data to support claims that specific natural compounds can reduce the activity of the herpes virus (including viral shedding).

Many people have successfully eliminated their symptoms through a simple, but researched, supplement regime.

Below are links to a list of herbs and nutrients that our support team have researched and found to work well for many people, as well as a guide on what to look for when choosing a supplement for herpes.

Try to avoid these ingredients

In most countries, it is not a requirement to list these ingredients on the label so you may need to enquire with the manufacturer before purchasing:

Dicalcium phosphate

An ingredient commonly found in supplements is Dicalcium phosphate, it is used as a "filler" in many tablets and capsules.  Some reports suggest that this compound may affect the body's ability to absorb nutrients, particularly Zinc.[1][2] For this reason, it may be worth avoiding any multi-vitamin or Lysine supplement that contains Dicalcium phosphate.

Gelatin

Gelatin is high in the amino acid Arginine and may also want to be avoided due to its potential to trigger herpes outbreaks. In fact, the whole point of taking Lysine in a supplement is to reduce the levels of Arginine in the body.  So taking a Lysine supplement that contains Gelatin would not be a smart choice.

Magnesium stearate (animal derived)

Magnesium stearate is used as a lubricant in many supplements and is often sourced from beef, although a pure source can be obtained from natural ingredients such as Palm Oil.  We prefer not to recommend any supplements which contain animal products, but this is a personal choice.

Know your savings

A supplement regime can work well, and if you are going to take them on a regular basis it is helpful to know where you can cash in on savings.

Combine the things that work into one

If you do your research, you can find some excellent supplements for HSV which combine quality herbs or nutrients together. A "combined" supplement has lots of advantages:

  • This approach will save you money
  • No need to take a whole cupboard full of different vitamins and herbs
  • It is more convenient, so a person is more likely to stick with the supplement and get results
  • Some compounds work better together, such as Vitamin C + Bioflavonoids and Andrographis + Echinacea

One combined supplement for herpes that we have researched and found to be reputable is called the Combined Lysine Formula. It consists of a broad range of nutrients indicated for herpes and is made using pure, naturally occurring ingredients.

Shop around for discounts

Look for loyalty programs and special discounts when you are deciding on a supplement to take, if it works it is likely to be something that you will need to refill.

Lots of retail stores and websites have loyalty programs or member discounts which entitle you to permanent savings, so ask before you buy and know where you can save your money.

For example, at Dynamiclear.com a person can claim almost 15% off any supplements if they are purchased in lots of 3. Repeat customers get an additional 5% off all purchases for life. This is a saving of nearly 20% which could be worth shopping online for.

A Quality brand may offer better results

Some health products these days are whipped up by people who know little to nothing about medicine, but know a lot about marketing and selling products. Without the experience of health practitioners, these products can sometimes miss vital practices that can make a difference to how a supplement works.

We have confirmed that the ingredients in the Combined Lysine Formula (mentioned above) are pure and made from natural sources, another reason why this is a favorable choice. It contains no animal products, dicalcium phosphate, gelatin or magnesium stearate and is free from artificial colorings, flavorings and preservatives. It is also free from known allergens, such as corn, dairy, gluten, nuts, sugar, wheat and yeast.
